AutoCAD 2012 - School Site License

Autodesk have 2 site licenses available to schools called the Autodesk Design Academy and the Autodesk Animation Academy. Each site license contains a bundle of Autodesk products tailored for different industry needs. Autodesk site licenses are available in 10, 25 and 125 user packs. Autodesk site licenses are significantly better value then purchasing AutoCAD as an individual license. In fact, it is cheaper to purchase an Autodesk Design Academy 10 user pack compared to a single AutoCAD educational license.

Autodesk AutoCAD 2012 - Product Description

There are several options available to you if you are looking to buy AutoCAD 2012 or AutoCAD LT 2012.

Buy AutoCAD Standalone license
An AutoCAD 2012 or AutoCAD LT 2012 standalone license is suitable for commercial use. The license itself provides installation rights onto 1 computer for 1 user. If you buy and AutoCAD subscription, this will provide you with secondary installation rights onto a home computer or laptop for the same user. If two users need to use AutoCAD at the same point in time, then two seperate licenses have to be purchased. This rule applies for multiple licenses of AutoCAD as well.

Buy AutoCAD Network license
If you are interested in buying the full AutoCAD 2012 product, there is another licensing option available to you known as a network license. An AutoCAD network license allows you to install AutoCAD 2012 onto as many computers in a Local Area Network. A licensing monitoring tool is installed onto the server which monitors how many licenses of AutoCAD are operating at one point in time.

For example; Your office has 10 workstations, 1 server and 1 AutoCAD 2012 network license. The 10 workstations and server are connected in a local area network. You will be able to install AutoCAD onto all 10 workstations, however, only 1 workstation will be able to access AutoCAD at one point in time.

Please note that only AutoCAD 2012 is available as a network license. AutoCAD LT is not available as a network license.

Buy AutoCAD Subscription
Not many AutoCAD users know this but Autodesk actually offer a subscription that provides you with 12 months of software upgrades and technical support. It is significantly cheaper for you to upgrade your AutoCAD software by subscription then by the standard box product upgrade. A subscription also ensures you are always running the latest version of AutoCAD which means you will benefit from the latest features and faster productivity.

It is actually cheaper for you to upgrade via a subscription each year then the upgrade box product. AutoCAD software also has to be upgraded every 3 years and if you choose not to upgrade within this period, your software will become obsolete. Based on previous releases, it is generally expected from Autodesk to release a new version of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT in late March / early April each year. A subscription can be added onto an existing AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT license provided it is the current version and Autodesk has not announced the new version.
