There are two different options available to you when upgrading your Autodesk software; box upgrade and subscription.An Autodesk box upgrade allows you upgrade an existing AutoCAD license to the current version. AutoCAD software can be upgraded from 3 previous versions for a fixed price. If you are upgrading from 4 versions back or earlier, the price of the AutoCAD upgrade increases significantly.
An Autodesk subscription provides you with 12 months of software upgrades. It is significantly cheaper for you to upgrade your Autodesk software by subscription then by the standard box product upgrade. A subscription also ensures you are always running the latest version of AutoCAD which means you will benefit from the latest features and faster productivity. Autodesk always release a new version every AutoCAD in March or April every year so you are guaranteed the next release. Subscription also provides 12 months of technical support via email. A subscription can only be added onto a new or current Autodesk license. Once Autodesk announce a new product, a subscription can no longer be added to a current license.
